Coptic Hospital Cath Lab / Critical Care Nurse Jobs in Kenya
Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting the cardiologist in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures on patients and providing quality nursing care, assessing and
managing patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab, and support interventional radiology as needed.
In-addition, the Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse patient-care specialist in all aspects of the Cardiac
Catheterization Closely monitoring the patient for improvement or complications, administering
medications including conscious sedation and assisting the Interventionist are some of the tasks of this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs nursing assessments to gather data and identify the patient’s needs for this period of care.
Pre-procedure duties consist of checking clinically important aspects related to the patient entering into the cath lab.
Assist physicians during catheterization procedures, angioplasties, pacemaker implantation and other cardiac procedures.
Understanding of Special devices including Intraaortic balloon pumps, rotoblators, AngioJets, thrombus aspiration systems, cutting balloons, filterwires, etc.
Demonstrate ability to use/assist all peripheral devices to include IVUS, Flow Wire,
Rotatblator, and Mac-Lab system etc. as defined by position in lab.
Collaborates with physicians and other health employees in coordinating the plan of care and facilitating patient outcomes.
Provides care based on established standards of practice, policies and protocols.
Ensures that patients are admitted, transferred and discharged in a timely and efficient
manner.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills for problem solving and anticipating patient care
needs.
Documents assessments, delivery of care and patients response to care in the medical record.
Participates in performance improvement initiatives to improve processes and
outcomes.
Administers Moderate Sedation under direct supervision of a Physician after demonstrating written and demonstrates competence.
Demonstrates the ability to function in all aspects of diagnostic and interventional
catheterization to include scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording of procedures.
Participates in after hour and on-call coverage.
Assist as part of a team to provide support to Cath-lab and interventional radiology as
needed.
Understands policy and procedure for to emergent patient needs and codes.
Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the cardiologist in charge of theatre.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of cardiology catheterization lab experience is Preferred.
