The International Labour Organization (ILO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior National Officer in Beirut, Lebanon. The duration of this post is 1 year.

The mission of the ILO is to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Senior National Officer will perform the following functions:

  • Prepare and update regularly the assigned components of the project work plan, monitoring plan and technical progress reports in close coordination with PROSPECTS reporting officers.
  • Follow-up on delayed documents, clarify information, and answer questions about clearance and processing requirements to support successful completion of agreed activities.
  • Ensure the delivery of quality technical inputs, including qualitative and quantitative research in line with the project workplan.
  • Prepare and conduct seminars, workshops, and consultative meetings, and implement capacity building interventions for selected local partner organizations on OSH and competency-based skills training.
  • Maintain close cooperation and coordination with government, employers’ and workers’ organizations in the planning and implementation of related activities under the PROSPECTS project.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor activities run by implementing partners, including, inter alia, pilot trials with selected farmers for improved productivity and working conditions) and in close cooperation with private and public local stakeholders, analyse and discuss results and design upscaling strategies in the second phase of the PROSPECTS partnership.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Advanced university degree in economics, agriculture sciences/agricultural economics, development studies, environmental sciences or other relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 year’s of relevant professional experience at the national level implementing and/or supporting economic/agricultural development and livelihoods projects, at least two years of which with the UN or international organizations.
  • Experience in the agriculture sector in Lebanon is a requirement.
  • Experience in working in the microfinance sector/with microfinance institutions is a major asset.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
