“Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose…”
More seriously freedom is having the most options. In a totalitarian society you have no freedom because you’re not allowed to do anything, in an anarchic society you have no freedom because you spend all your time just trying to survive.
Some social structure and some social safety net is part of freedom, not something we have to put up with but hurts freedom.
What is it most certainly not, despite what the internet thinks, is the exact same thing as a childish “nobody gets to tell me what to do.”
