The International Labour Organization (ILO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Assistant in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The duration of this post is 12 months.

The mission of the ILO is to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Project Assistant will perform the following functions:

  • In the context of climate change and migration, collect information from records and reports, compile socioeconomic or other relevant data, and prepare reports on programme and project activities.
  • Organize data and information, and prepare and maintain records, documents and control systems for the monitoring and evaluation of project and programme implementation. Work in close collaboration with partners to draft and revise project annual work plans.
  • Follow-up on delayed documents, clarify information, and answer questions about clearance and processing requirements to support successful completion of agreed activities.
  • Prepare monthly financial monitoring reports for regular internal financial monitoring.
  • Support the preparation of donor reports.
  • Follow-up with relevant technical officers with counterparts in organizations and line ministries at national level, partner and executing agencies, government offices, constituents and in other organizations to expedite implementation and meet targets.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, knowledge products and submissions to governments by providing information, preparing tables and drafting selected sections and coordinating review and validation processes.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Completion of secondary school education, supplemented by technical or university level courses in economics, law, development studies or the social sciences.
  • 6 year’s of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least one year in programme support activities.
  • Knowledge of the relevant project and programme area and the Office’s operations would be an advantage.
  • Excellent command of written and verbal English.
