United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Specialist in Kathmandu, Nepal. The duration of this post is 6 months.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Programme Specialist will perform the following functions:

  • Develop and implement a cross-sectoral strategy for the existing multi-country multi-language U-Report South Asia platform considering the multiple functionalities of the Rapid-Pro Platform.
    • Develop and review a multi-sectoral strategy and monitoring and evaluation plan,
    • Design and disseminate U-Report poll findings including summary infographics,
    • Provide technical guidance and support to the U-Report data analyst on multiple U-Report functionalities and outputs, translation and dissemination,
    • Provide feedback to U-Reporters on actions taken,
    • Support integration of U-Report with other UNICEF assets, such as Internet of Good Things (IoGT), RapidPro and other innovation products.
  • Ensure Cross-Sectoral and Country Collaboration
    • Lead the identification of poll priorities and execution of U-Report activities in collaboration with relevant sectors and country teams,
    • Support the integration of U-Report poll findings and recommendations to sectoral advocacy plans, programme planning and research strategies,
    • Provide technical support to South Asia countries in developing and implementing U-Report country level strategies, including delivering capacity building,
    • Regularly engage with the U-Report Adolescent Reference Group on poll priorities, poll design, analysis of adolescent and youth inputs, and report writing.
  • Ensure Networking, Partnerships and Innovation
    • Build partnerships to strengthen reach and impact of U-Report, including disseminating poll findings and use of findings,
    • Promote innovation and learning on U-Report impact based on evaluation findings,
    • Engage with U-Reporters across the region and strengthen and scale up the South Asia U-Reporter network in collaboration with adolescent and youth networks, particularly marginalized youth including those living with disability, girls, those in rural and underserved areas and so on, including identifying low tech solutions for hard-to-reach areas.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • An Advanced University degree in Communication technology, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, International Development, or another related field.
  • First University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • Minimum 5 year’s of professional experience in social development planning and management in adolescent development related areas is required
  • Experience in U-Report or a related youth engagement online app including in poll design, dissemination, analysis and report writing
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
