Asian Development Bank (ADB) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Principal Partnerships Specialist in Manila, Philippines . The duration of this post is 3 years.

Key Jobs Responsibilities

The Principal Partnerships Specialist will perform the following functions-

  • Building Support for ADB’s Work and Mobilizing Resources
    • Deepens partnerships and knowledge exchanges among governmental bodies, build on and establish new relationships with development partners, think tanks/ research organizations, the private sector (including business associations, chambers of commerce, export and trade promotion organizations, civil society and the media), and educate key stakeholders about ADB strategy and operations. Specific responsibilities include:
      • Improving ADB’s knowledge base on European policies and institutions including on climate change;
      • Promoting political dialogue, and building awareness of the gamut of ADB’s work among key stakeholders from government, private sector, academia, civil society and the media;
      • Representing ADB in policy dialogue, leading European development fora, European-based global funds, and in the media;
      • Engaging in resource mobilization exercises, including Special Funds, Trust Funds, and resources for private sector operations.
    • Coordinates thematic interests of European partners through a OneADB approach in order to effectively liaise ADB with European interests and vice versa.
    • Supports ADB in advancing the climate change action plan in Europe and contributes to climate financing initiatives.
  • Engaging European Expertise, Technology and Innovation
    • Engages in (i) outreach and networking with European businesses, financial institutions, professional networks, knowledge institutions, civil society and academia; (ii) serving an advisory role to selected European companies and institutions on the full range of opportunities to engage and work with ADB, including sovereign and non-sovereign operations and PPPs. Specific responsibilities include:
    • Broadcasting opportunities for working with ADB, in partnership with leading business associations, professional networks and academia, and facilitating contacts within ADB;
    • Conducting careers outreach events;
    • Building networks with European companies, institutional investors, financial institutions, including pre-screening companies for referral to other departments and offices;
        • Building networks among technology and innovative companies, academic and research entities, and refer/recommend to sector and thematic groups and project teams;
        • Disseminating ADB knowledge products to key stakeholders;

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • Master’s Degree, or equivalent, in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Political Science, International Affairs, or related fields; University degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Political Science, International Affairs, or related fields, and at least 5 years specialized experience relevant to the position be considered.
  • At least 12 years of relevant professional experience and familiarity with operations, policies, and procedures of bilateral and multilateral development financing institutions, and a profound understanding of political and governmental institutions and processes;
  • Displays excellent understanding of ADB or similar multilateral development bank’s core policies, strategies and operations, including operational experience (sovereign, non-sovereign and PPP) in at least one of the core areas of ADB operations, and is able to represent and explain ADB operations convincingly to external counterparts and elaborate ADB’s value addition.
  • Solid operational background including in energy, climate, water and/or infrastructure project processing and management is preferred.
  • Displays excellent understanding of the European donor base including governments, philanthropies, and the private sector.
  • Embraces ERO’s mission to serve the needs and purposes of ADB.
  • Displays the highest level of collaboration with the rest of ADB. In this context, will be able to work in virtual teams and task forces, beyond the normal hierarchies and schemes
  • Must be a team player and is expected to contribute strongly to the overall cooperative spirit of ERO.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Advanced knowledge of other European languages will be preferred to allow direct engagement with counterparts.
