Polyglots, what are some common misconceptions about you?

I’m terrible at foreign language, but I have spent more years on it than the average person, perhaps to make up for my deficit/weakness. The real power of learning another language is you develop a deeper understanding of abstract symbolism, communication strategies, and how they apply to your own language or, more broadly, general (casual/practical and formal) communications.
