DAI Kenya Communications/MEL Officer Makueni Jobs
Objectives of the Assignment
The Communications/MEL Officer will report to a Regional Coordinator and work in close collaboration with Nairobi-based Collaboration, Learning and Adaptation and other STAWI team members in the collection, synthesizing, and reporting of data related to STAWI field activities for accurate and timely results reporting, learning and adaptation, and to support various communication outputs such as weekly stories, media releases, key messages, case studies, social media posts, and other forms of data distribution.
Tasks & Responsibilities
The Communications/MEL Officer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following detailed tasks:
Communications:
Assist in overseeing the editing and revision of narrative reports after site visits, including sections on recommendations for the improvement and analysis of programmatic progress
Support the Communications Manager in the collection and archiving of photos of all project sites for use regularly scheduled reports
Assist in liaising with technical teams regarding site visit findings and follow-up to ensure that negative findings have been addressed or corrected
Prepare reports on progress of results indicators and assist with program evaluation as needed
Through data analysis and reporting, assist in developing lessons learned and success stories for dissemination to the project team
Collect, synthesize and report Activity data to support learning and adaptation, communications and reporting
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
Work closely with the project’s Collaboration, Learning and Adaptation team to ensure high quality of data collection
Assist the MEL Manager, in managing, overseeing, and, when necessary, modifying all project M&E guidelines and PMP
Design and conduct site visits/ interviews for data collection, verification and program tracking
Maintain and track indicators in the project’s PMP
Assist in the implementation of baseline assessments and ensure data quality standards are adhered to for all data collection
Reflect the project’s activities and intervention on USAID’s database and DAI’s TAMIS
Provide on-demand data reports to DAI and USAID
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, statistics, or another related field
6 years of experience including 3 years of experience in data analysis, data systems, communications, and reporting, preferably for USAID or other international donor-funded activities
Experience in M&E data collection, tools, PMP development, training field monitors and data tracking and reporting
Design and develop qualitative and quantitative tools and provided technical support and oversight of data collection and management consistent with the M&E frameworks.
Familiar with data tracking systems
Proficiency with MS Office (Word and PowerPoint), graphic arts, and/or desktop publishing software
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with institutional and private sector partners and stakeholders in a multi-country setting.
Excellent English written and oral communications skills.
Preference for individuals that have worked on programs with a focus in water, sanitation, agriculture or sustainable livelihoods.
