Gilani’s Distributors Transport Supervisor Jobs in Kenya
Role Purpose:
To plan, coordinate, and oversee the transport and logistics activities, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods. The Transport Coordinator’s primary focus will be on optimizing resources, minimizing costs, and maintaining compliance with transport regulations and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate transportation activities, including driver scheduling, route planning, and load management.
Monitor driver, mechanics & marshals’ performance, including adherence to schedules, compliance with regulations, and safety measures.
Ensure compliance with transportation laws, regulations, and company policies, including vehicle maintenance and driver certifications.
Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness, cleanliness, and adherence to safety standards.
Coordinate with the lead schedule planner to ensure accurate and timely execution of transportation schedules.
Manage driver assignments and ensure efficient allocation of resources to meet transportation requirements.
Resolve any issues or conflicts related to transportation operations, such as delays, route deviations, or customer complaints.
Monitor and maintain accurate records of driver, mechanics & marshals’ activities, including hours of service, mileage, fuel consumption, and incident reports.
Implement and enforce safety protocols, including driver, mechanics & marshals training, vehicle inspections, and accident/incident prevention measures.
Collaborate with the Transport Manager to identify areas for process improvement, cost optimization, and enhanced customer service.
Requirements:
Diploma in logistics or a related field (preferred). A degree will be an added advantage.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation supervision, logistics coordination, or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Excellent leadership and supervisory skills to manage and motivate a team of drivers and transportation staff.
Proficiency in using transportation management systems, GPS tracking, and fleet management software.
Good problem-solving skills to address issues related to driver scheduling, route deviations, or customer complaints.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with drivers, internal teams, and external service providers.
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and inspection procedures.
