The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organisation with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance.
It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles. The ICRC’s Regional Delegation in Nairobi co-ordinates the institution’s humanitarian activities in Kenya, Tanzania, and Djibouti.
Overall Responsibility
The Regional Water & Habitat Knowledge Manager (KM) is directly responsible for implementing the knowledge management priorities and strategies of a given ICRC specialist function (Water & Habitat) worldwide. The incumbent analyses, designs, leads, manages, coordinates, implements, evaluates, and adapts the training, development, and knowledge management activities, in coordination with the unit in Geneva as well as the Learning and Development Division.
Tasks and responsibilities
Contributes to the formulation and deployment of the global learning, development, and knowledge management strategy for water & habitat (WatHab) according to the unit and institutional strategies.
Re-evaluate training offer and priorities for learning and development (gap analysis and needs assessments), formulates the related priorities and translates these into actionable projects and programs.
Propose and develop new learning opportunities on certain thematic files in coordination with the Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Network of Expertise (NoE).
Contribute to monitor the progress and renew the KM road map.
Support the onboarding process by updating the training and other related documents.
Support the setup and the update of the career development and learning paths.
Coordinates global training delivery for the WatHab staff.
Supervision of the organization of the trainings with the course administrators.
Update training and capacity-building materials and content and ensure proper reporting is carried out.
Monitor and renew MoU with regional partners (Strathmore University, German Jordanian University).
Involve external actors and partners in the trainings as participants or facilitators.
Maintain and develop connections with regional Movement and sector partners.
Responsible for coaching and supporting the KM network.
Supervise, coach and support the Project Officer of the Water & Energy Hub in Nairobi.
Support and participate to special events and webinar.
Minimum Requirements and competencies
Advanced university degree (Master-level or above) in a technical domain related to public health engineering.
Typically, 10-12 year’s professional experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public health engineering for relief and/or recovery interventions in a humanitarian context.
Knowledge of Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and ICRC Partnership objectives.
Proven experience in team and people management and leadership.
Knowledge of adult-learning approaches and practices.
Fluent knowledge of English; French or Spanish is an asset.
