Brief description of WFP in Uganda
WFP delivers food assistance in emergencies and work with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. WFP provides life-saving food assistance and livelihood opportunities to refugees in Uganda. In addition, WFP assists the most vulnerable people in Karamoja with food and nutrition assistance. Finally, WFP works with smallholder farmers and links them to markets.
As Uganda strives to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 and become a middle-income country by 2040, WFP is also assessing its relevance and repositioning its role in Uganda.

We are seeking a qualified individual for the position of IT Operations Officer (Digital Solutions) , SC8 Kampala. The selected candidate will be employed on a short-term contract of twelve (12) months.
Organizational Context
The UN World Food Programme (WFP), the 2020 Noble Peace Prize winner, is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against hunger. It is the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda.
Currently WFP focuses on three priority areas: Saving lives in Emergencies through; Building Resilience through predictable safety nets, improving Nutrition, Mother and Child Health and supporting Small Holder Farmers to access markets while working to help prevent hunger in the future. We do this through programmes that use food to build assets, spread knowledge and nurture stronger, more dynamic communities.
This helps communities become more food secure. On average, WFP aims to bring food assistance to more than 80 million people in 80 countries. The position is the custodian of the grand vision of the scaling up digital solutions and the use of data in WFP Uganda programmes and operations. The incumbent shall be responsible for initiating projects, requirements gathering, and project coordination of the delivery of digital and data solutions.
They will aim to maximize the value brought by IT digital solutions by understanding business and end-user requirements and prioritizing the work to be done. The position aims for IT digital and data solutions which achieve the highest quality in terms of technical usability, user acceptability, and domain suitability.
Job Purpose
To support the delivery of efficient and effective IT and Telecommunications (TC) services, contributing to sound, innovative solutions that enable staff to deliver food assistance to beneficiaries, in line with WFP’s strategy.

Standard Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills:
• Familiarity with data management tools like (Server-side – Python: Django/Flask/Pyramid, PHP: Zend Framework, Front-end – React, Content Management – Drupal, Databases: MariaDB/MySQL, PostgreSQL/PostGres, DevOps – Docker, or similar is an added advantage
• Experience drawing actionable insights from data analytics; comfortable using data analysis software (e.g., Tableau, MS Excel, Microsoft Power BI, SPSS etc.) to conduct analyses and relate the findings to challenge at hand. is an added advantage.
• Experience in briefing management on project progress
• Experience working closely with deployment, design, and development teams to optimize user experience on digital solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of digital solutions best practice,
• Certification in Project Management methodologies is an added advantage.
• Certification in Business Analysis is an added advantage.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to a range of different stakeholder groups. Languages:
• Fluency in oral and written English, including strong writing skills
