Makerere University Walter Reed Project Senior Technical Advisor – Prevention Jobs in Uganda
Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be to coordinate and provide technical support for effective implementation of the HIV prevention portfolio under the MUWRP PEPFAR program. The portfolios that will be supported include; HTS, linkage, Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision, DREAMS, PrEP, Key and Priority populations among others.
He/She will be responsible for supporting adoption of innovations to improve the HIV prevention portfolio especially for the hard-to-reach populations and ensure that programs are aligned to MoH and PEPFAR strategies and objectives.
Key duties & responsibilities
Planning:
Participate in workplan and budget development.
Contribute to target setting for planning and monitoring.
Provide technical guidance for work plans and budgets.
Capacity Building and Technical Assistance:
Organize training and mentorship for teams.
Contribute to capacity strengthening initiatives.
Program Implementation:
Monitor HIV prevention activities in line with the workplan.
Offer technical and supervisory support to facilities and sub-grantees.
Collaborate with district and ministry teams for project implementation.
External Engagement:
Represent MUWRP in relevant external engagements.
Identify and address quality gaps with relevant quality management teams.
Program Monitoring and Reporting:
Contribute to data collection tools and indicators aligned with program goals.
Review and submit programmatic data accurately and timely.
Participate in performance reviews and quality assessments.
Take part in SIMS assessment visits and follow-up remediation.
Knowledge Sharing and Learning:
Identify, document and disseminate best practices in HIV prevention.
Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications, skills and experience
Bachelor’s degree in social work and social administration, Development studies, social sciences or Humanities.
Master’s degree in public health from a recognized University is an added advantage.
A minimum of 3 years’ working experience of implementing HIV prevention programs
Additional training in Consolidated guidelines for the prevention and Treatment of HIV and AIDS in Uganda will be an added advantage.
Ability to meet very tight deadlines.
Personal Attributes & Physical ability
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve set goals.
Ability to reside in Kayunga
Ability to frequently travel to the MUWRP PEPFAR supported sites in Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe and Buvuma Islands.
