Makerere University Walter Reed Project Research Nurse Jobs in Uganda
Position Summary:
The Successful Candidate will provide support to the study or services supervisor in medical assessment of participants, collecting important clinical details, performing clinical examinations and relevant tests and performing follow up data collection in the clinic/field.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and account for allocated resources.
Participate in research activities.
Adhere to professional codes of conduct and ethics.
Engage in continuous professional development.
Document medical history, examination findings, and provide health education to potential participants.
Obtain informed consent from potential participants.
Perform clinical evaluations, relevant tests, and collaborate with primary healthcare providers for participant management.
Collect data and biological specimens, ensuring proper labeling and handling according to SOPs.
Provide clinical care to participants in consultation with study physicians and offer pre-test counseling.
Ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
Actively participate in weekly CMEs.
Conduct briefing sessions for potential participants according to SOPs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institute.
Five years of post-qualification professional experience.
Experience in HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, and Treatment, including Antiretroviral Therapy.
Registered with the nursing council.
Possess a valid practicing license.
Fluent in verbal and written English and Luganda.
Experience living and working in a rural environment.
Formal training in HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, and Treatment, including Antiretroviral Therapy and Palliative Care.
Proficiency in computer usage, including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet.
Experience in a clinical or biomedical research setting.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
Ability to work and reside in Kayunga.
Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Professional communication skills in writing, verbally, and through other appropriate means.
Personal attributes & physical ability
