Makerere University Walter Reed Project Program Officer – Gender & Youth Program Jobs in Uganda

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will work with teams to support the delivery of Youth and Adolescent services including the DREAMS and AGYW programming, youth friendly services at health facilities, RH and Gender services at community service points. The officer will work with CBOs to support service delivery for adolescents and young people.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of DREAMS-related activities in compliance with PEPFAR guidance.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and validation for program monitoring.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support to community-based organizations (CBOs) and community development organizations (CDOs) for adolescent and young people’s programs.
  • Facilitate linkages between Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in hotspots and the DREAMS program.
  • Collaborate with districts to address gender relations’ impact on access to HIV services.
  • Support gender mainstreaming in community and facility HIV care and treatment programs.
  • Document and share best practices for gender mainstreaming.
  • Ensure accurate completion of M&E tools to monitor gender norms, GBV, and DREAMS targets in the work plan.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, Sociology or any other related field
  • Post-graduate level training in reproductive health/ children and youth studies is of added advantage
  • At least 2 years’ experience in management/coordination of Adolescent/Youth Sexual Reproductive Health interventions
  • Knowledge of Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Policies and strategies

    Personal attributes & physical ability:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve set goals.
  • Ability to meet very tight deadlines.
  • Ability to permanently reside in Mukono.
  • Ability to frequently travel to the MUWRP PEPFAR supported sites in Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe and Buvuma Islands.
  • Ability to travel on water
