Goethe Center Kampala Head of the Language Department Jobs in Uganda
Job Details:
We are now looking for a committed colleague as head of the language department at the Goethe Center Kampala with a fixed-term contract for a period of two years with the prospect of an extension.
Remuneration is based on the local remuneration scheme.
Your area of responsibility essentially includes the following:
• Planning, organization and reporting of language courses and examinations including business aspects
• Planning, managing and controlling the deployment of personnel for language course operations and examinations, including internships and internal training
• Introduction or expansion of new course formats (including blended learning, online courses, summer camps) for new customer groups (e.g. for companies, young people and children)
• Identification of material and teaching aid requirements as well as material development
• Ordering and monitoring teaching materials and material management
• Quality management for language course operations and examinations
• Acquisition, customer advice, marketing and public relations for language courses and exams, advertising measures
• Enrollment of customers in internal systems
• Support in the planning, organization and reporting of the German educational cooperation including PASCH in close consultation with the Goethe-Institut Nairobi
• Personal, telephone and written advice and information in German, English or Luganda on all language courses and examinations at the Goethe Center Kampala general Office work
Requirements:
• Very good knowledge of German (at least level C1) or native speaker
• A university degree in German studies or German as a foreign language (DaF and/or another foreign language
philology
• Experience in managing a language course or willingness to quickly learn the ropes
• Examiner certificate or the willingness to take it
• Experiences in teaching DaF for adults
• Familiarity with a wide range of current teaching materials for German as a foreign language
• Knowledge of Germany and Uganda is desirable
• Knowledge and handling of all common MS Office software products, especially Excel, Word and Teams
• High social and intercultural competence
• High resilience and ability to work in a team
• Very good knowledge of German and English
