Anti- Female Genital Mutilation Board Assistant Director, Programmes – Policy and Research Jobs in Kenya

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementing policies, strategies, standards, guidelines, procedures and programmes for the Anti-AFGM Board;
  • Compiling, analysing and interpreting of statistical data;
  • Initiating formulating Standard Operational Procedures for the Policy Division;
  • Translating of National Policy goals and programmes for the Anti FGM Board;
  • Preparing concept papers and proposals for policy and strategy development;
  • Providing guidance in the preparation of the Board’s annual work plans; coordination of policy and strategy formulation activities;
  • Coordination of the production of the Board’s annual statutory report; and undertaking monitoring and evaluation framework for the Board;
  • Developing and implementing guidelines for knowledge sharing techniques;
  • Promoting adoption of effective knowledge management systems;
  • Undertaking monitoring and evaluating knowledge management activities;
  • Preparing periodic reports on emerging trends in knowledge management;
  • Identifying and curating external knowledge relevant to the Board;
  • Optimizing functionalities for how knowledge is organized and made easily accessible;
  • Establishing and maintaining the repository of knowledge products produced by the Board;
  • Coordinating mapping of the Board existing knowledge as well as periodic updating of existing knowledge;
  • Coordinating documentation of key lessons learned and good practices for reporting and organizational learning;
  • Identifying gaps in knowledge for creation of future research agenda;
  • Instituting and coordinating communities of practice and knowledge brokers;
  • Organizing platforms for knowledge sharing and transfer including talks, publications, press releases, information leaflets and website;
  • Promoting integration of knowledge translation in all stages of knowledge creation and knowledge-to-action-processes;
  • Liaising with relevant functional area to institute mechanism for expertise transfer through succession management and mentorship;
  • Conducting research to advance research translation methods;
  • Inculcating a culture of knowledge and information sharing;
  • Liaising with the Board Library to monitor the publications in the implementation and use of the institutional repository, that captures the intellectual output in the Board;
  • Identifying knowledge gaps to guide research and innovation;
  • Leading development of abstracts, publications, evidence and policy briefs;
  • Coordinating designing and implementation of technological platforms for knowledge networks with external parties;
  • Supporting the Board and other relevant stakeholders in developing practice guidelines;
  • Ensuring compliance with respective regulatory requirements and conformation to national and international standards on knowledge management;
  • Providing technical expertise on knowledge management and dissemination within the Board;
  • Coordinating conduction of institutional asset assessments to ensure and continuously monitor the knowledge management enablers; and
  • Facilitating dissemination and translation of knowledge products and tools through publications, education, training, and other forms of knowledge sharing.

    Requirements for Appointment

  • Twelve (12) years cumulative experience, four (4) of which should have been at Principal Programmes Officer or a comparable position in a reputable organization;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Sociology; Anthropology; Education; Gender Studies or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: – Sociology; Anthropology; Education; Gender Studies or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage and
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
