Non-American Workers, what happened to overseas companies that American businesses bought without knowing your overseas business practices and/or laws?

I agree, I asked this question because some time ago on another question someone gave a story about Americans buying their business and trying to take away various “benefits” but kept not being a able to due to the local laws. I was curious of any other events like this people may have experienced and what may have happened as a result.
