World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of National Professional Officer (Logistics) in Tripoli, Libya. The duration of this post is 1 year.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Key Job Responsibilities

The National Professional Officer (Logistics)  will perform the following functions:

  • Prepare logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for planned or new operations.
  • Identify additional training needs in logistics and arrange training courses to achieve high working standards
  • Supervise and coordinate transportation operations, storage, shipping and delivery of supplies’ consignments to the Ministry of Health and/or other counter parts in Syria.
  • Establish and maintain work program and schedule for ongoing contracts and newly planned ones.
  • Investigate and submit reports regarding discrepancies in delivered goods.
  • Supervise and direct Logistics Assistants and Drivers.
  • Provide regular/periodical reports on the status of supplies related to each programme area.
  • Oversee the handling of relevant claims on missing, damaged and /or short-landed supplies/consignments.
  • Supervise the management and maintenance of WHO vehicles in the absence of the transport focal point.
  • Serve as the security focal point in the absence of the local security assistant .
  • Perform any other duties as designated by the WHO representative.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • University degree in Transport, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or other related field.
  • Masters degree in public health
  • At least one year relevant experience in the area of supply and logistics.
  • Knowledge of WHO mandate and goals or experience in UN Organizations, NGOs is considered an asset. Project management / Results-based Management (RBM) is an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of Arabic.
  • Expert knowledge in English.
