Men of reddit why would you continue a “relationship” with someone when you don’t want to end up with them?

My experience was that she would hurt herself and threaten suicide whenever I tried to break up, so it was hard to leave. Another instance was that it was kind of just a “I’m used to this life” thing and it wasn’t great but it also wasn’t bad.
