Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Life Safety Technician.

The work schedule for this position is:

Full Time, 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Duties: The incumbent is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the various life-safety systems installed in the Government Owned Buildings, U.S. Government owned residential properties and Short- and Long-Term Lease residencies.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education:

Completion of secondary school (both ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels) and attainment of advanced certificate/diploma in electrical and electronic applications is required.

Experience:

Minimum of four years progressively responsible experience in the electrical or electronic field is required.

Job Knowledge:

Must have full working knowledge of electrical theories and safety procedures and be proficient in electrical troubleshooting.

Evaluations:

Language:

English level III (Good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.

Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to work independently.

Proper use of both hand tools and electrical or electronic testing equipment.

Must be available for on-call duty 24 hours a day.

Must hold a valid drivers’ license for a minimum of five years with classes B, CM, DL.
