Job Brief

Your primary role as the Group HR and Operations Manager is to continuously review, enrich and implement NFT policies and processes, championing their adherence within the organization across the various countries. This role promotes the company strategy on institutionalization of the company values, mission and vision.

This includes forecasting, acquiring, developing, implementing and controlling activities that ensure the right number of qualified people in the right jobs at the right time. This role involves motivating the employees to achieve high performance and creating interactive links between business objectives, tools of trade/core systems and resource planning activities. This is largely independent role that requires a high degree of business maturity and pro-activeness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Design and document processes, procedures and policies to support the company objectives on operational efficiency and the Quality Management System framework across all countries. This role ensures group-wide implementation, providing guidance and interpretation to ensure 100% compliance to company processes and policies.
  • Develop effective working relationships with all internal and external customers or suppliers. Supplier management includes retaining services that are cost effective, competitive, timely, legally compliant, relevant and effective to support NFT business requirements.
  • Proactively understand customer needs (internal and external customers) using feedback reviews on service delivery; continuously seeks feedback to progressively improve service delivery.
  • Effectively address customer queries in order to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Play leading role in NFT branding, office environment set up and logistics management.
  • Manage the corporate services team to achieve departmental targets.

    HR Management

  • Point of contact for all staff related HR matters – core employee HR files, welfare, staff training and development, plus contract management and disciplinary/ grievance matters arising.
  • Hiring, developing and mentoring the finance and operations team including recruiting, performance appraisals, staff training and development plans across multiple countries
  • Research, implement and administer all company benefit and staff development plans.
  • Drive and enforce policies and processes that promote a vibrant workplace culture.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and make recommendations to the General Manager for improvement of organization’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
  • Review overall team structure, to include job titles and profiles, managing the recruiting structure to create a high performing team able to support the business profitably.
  • Develop, implement and comply with all relevant Health and Safety policies and help drive a positive health and safety culture.
  • Tracking the periodic companywide employee performance review framework, offering guidelines to the teams and department heads.
  • Thoroughly understand your role in supporting employees to enable them to execute their roles effectively.
  • Assess the skill requirement of employees for each job and provide mechanisms to eliminate any gaps that may exist.
  • Periodically readjust as labor market conditions and business strategy changes effectively recruiting, redeploying and retaining people and where applicable determining employees to be phased out.
  • Effectively manage HR-related change within the organization.
  • Manage, track and provide reports on staff absenteeism, productivity levels, budgets, recruitment, selection and placement, performance appraisals, staff learning and development, retraining and redeployment.
  • Develop and manage the staff retention plan and the retrenchment plan where applicable.
  • Match organizational needs with employee needs, focusing on employee’s training, development and creativity, compensation, incentives, employee safety, welfare, motivation and promotion.
  • Enrich and maintain the HR Management Information System and provide timely analytics / reports to assist the organizational development and decision making. HR Data Analytics and reporting include but are not limited to staff attrition, staff development projects, return on training investments, leave management and employment trends across the NFT offices around the world.
  • From time-to-time support the group offices in HR planning and development.
  • Thoroughly understand and execute the agreed upon KPI’s and WIG’s in your business unit.

    Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Provide leadership and direction to HR and operations teams across multiple countries, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that support business growth and expansion in the region.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on HR and operational matters, providing insights and recommendations to drive business success.

    Education Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an HR-related field or Administration required plus a minimum of 3+ years professional work experience in a related field. Masters in HR and/or certification is a plus.
  • A very high level of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
  • Expertise and proficiency in HR, finance and operations with key knowledge on IFRS principles, ISO Quality Management system (9001:2015) as well as the labor law legislation for east African countries and beyond.
  • Proven track record of success in a leadership position at group level.
  • Possess strong management skills or project management skills including time and task management, strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven skills in problem solving, decision making, negotiation, and attention to detail with accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adept at employee relations including conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and exercise confidentiality.
  • A well-developed pattern of achievement, competitive skills, high levels of commitment, energy, motivation, flexibility and personal integrity.
  • Highly organized and analytical with a good sense of planning, budget development and risk management.
  • Organizational skills, particularly in terms of procurement, business forecasting, budget development and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and personnel motivation skills.
  • Drive to continually improve processes and seek new challenges.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, working accurately with attention to detail, and continuously meeting deadlines.
