Mines Advisory Group Programme Officer Jobs in South Sudan

About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team working hard to save lives in one of the world’s youngest countries. You will join our South Sudan programme to lead and administrate grant management and donor liaison. You will work in collaboration with our programme team to coordinate and submit well-researched, high quality concept notes, proposals, and donor reports.

You will work with the Country Director to pursue funding opportunities through donor liaison, partnerships, and networking. You will also be a key focal point for information management in the programme, developing and supporting implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) tools and ensuring the continual capacity building of our colleagues’ skills.

About you:

You will be an excellent communicator with an international relations or other relevant degree or commensurate experience. You will have experience of grants management and

donor liaison, ideally within an international NGO. You will have strong writing skills and experience utilising these skills for proposal development. You will have experience living and working in humanitarian programmes. Areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities, so you will need to be able to deal with living and working in challenging environments.

About the South Sudan programme:

South Sudan is one of the youngest, poorest and least developed countries world-wide. The 2013 outbreak of hostilities has led to thousands of people being killed or wounded, and hundreds of thousands of people being displaced by the violence. MAG has been working in South Sudan since 2004, to clear landmines/unexploded ordnance and deliver mine risk education to at-risk populations.
