CBM Deputy Chief of Party Jobs in Kenya
CBM seeks to recruit Deputy Chief of Party based at the CBM Kenya Country Office. The job holder will provide strategic support in the management, implementation, technical leadership, and overall quality assurance of the USAID Jumuisha project. The incumbent will support the development of vision and plans for the project which are innovative and are aligned with the agency and donor programme strategies.
This position is only filled locally. With contractual conditions of the respective country. An expatriation is not intended.
These are your responsibilities
Lead and facilitate the design and implementation of the project across result areas, while ensuring quality, responsiveness, and relevance of technical assistance and capacity building.
Coordinate development, implementation, monitoring and reporting on all project work plans.
Supervise program monitoring, evaluating, and reporting activities, ensuring that all project deliverables are met and delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
In coordination with the Chief of Party, serve as a Pact liaison to USAID and national and local partners, including government officials, civil society, and community leaders, particularly on technical matters.
Coordinate with target public, private sector and civil society organizations and appropriate stakeholders in all aspects of project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
Supervise key technical staff, ensuring high-quality technical programming through hands-on guidance and support grounded in the program’s strategic objectives and adhering to expected technical quality and reporting requirements.
Assist with all programmatic aspects, ensuring that objectives are met on time and within budget.
Ensure rapid startup; day-to-day implementation of activities; working with the Chief of Party, oversee and coordinate tech outputs/activities, as well as sub-grantees, sub-contractors, and consultants.
Serve as the primary point of contact with USAID in absence of the Chief of Party with regard to day-to-day implementation and management matters related to the agreement.
Provide training and mentoring to partners to strengthen capacity for technical service delivery and compliance with donor rules and regulations.
Under the guidance of the Chief of Party, help recruit and directly support project staff in line with CBM HR policies; ensure a diverse, skilled, and productive project implementation team; nurture an organizational culture that focuses on quality performance.
Deliver technical presentations on project achievements to the donor, government and all other organizations.
Support with other tasks, as assigned by the Chief of Party.

To comply with all safety and health procedures and requirements at CBM and, at all times ensure own safety and health and that of other persons who may be affected by acts or omissions.
Carry out your role-specific responsibility to safeguard children and adults at risk (as guided by CBM’s respective policies)
Ensure that all activities conducted within scope of work or as an employee with CBM comply with the IT and data protection principles
These are your qualifications
Master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including 5 years of management experience, or Bachelor’s and 10 years of experience.
At least 5-7 years of experience in the successful implementation of international development activities, with preference given to direct implementation of public health, health systems and/or health policy programming.
Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to perform and collaborate in complex and politically sensitive project environments.
Possess qualities of subject matter expertise in disability inclusive development, partnership management particularly for marginalized groups.
Be fully conversant on global, regional, and local best practices and evidence-based approaches in disability inclusion, organization capacity development and systems strengthening, and results based management.
Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing a diverse team of employees and partners with conflict sensitivity.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including local organizations, government institutions, private sector entities, and funders.
Demonstrated skills in problem solving, negotiating, decision-making, and consensus building.
Knowledge of the political, social, and economic context of Kenya
Ability to travel within Kenya and occasionally internationally.
Broad understanding of public health, health systems, and health policy and practice in Kenya.
Experience working on and leading teams for USAID contracts and/or cooperative agreements and/or knowledge of USAID rules, regulations, and policies.
Demonstrated experience working with integrated projects in East Africa or similar contexts.
Willingness to commit and adhere to CBM mandate, mission, vision and values
