US Embassy American Spaces Program Assistant Jobs in South Africa
Duties
The American Spaces Program Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (or PAO designee) and has no supervisory responsibilities.
Develops and maintains U.S. government (USG) ties with the Emerging Voices (EV) sector through leadership and broad oversight of the Consular District-wide network of Partner American Spaces, consisting of four Partner American Spaces.
Develops and recommends the Consulate’s strategic objectives and performance standards for the Partner American Spaces and develops activities and programs to attract EV audiences and further U.S. foreign policy goals.
Requirements:
Four years of experience is required in public affairs, public education, communications, or delivering information resources.
Job Knowledge:
Must have comprehensive knowledge of the attitudes and preferences of the EV audience sector(s) and an understanding of regional, ethnic, socioeconomic, cultural, and linguistic factors and the influence of religious, cultural, and educational institutions in shaping EV perceptions of the United States.
Must have general knowledge of project management, including defining project objectives, outcomes, and assessment methods.
Must have knowledge of marketing techniques, market analysis and analytics, and customer service standards in the United States and South Africa; knowledge of trends in experiential learning and audience engagement; and an understanding of the communications and information environment in South Africa and internationally.
Education Requirements:
A university degree in Communications, Political Science, International Affairs, American Studies, Marketing, or local equivalent is required.
