GOAL Grants Coordinator Jobs in Ethiopia
Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and priorities. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, potential funding sources, and partnership opportunities.
Grants management: Lead coordination and overall management of the secured grants, ensure projec, technical and financial reports are submitted timely to donors. Lead on direct communication with the donors on modifications, requests for approvals, etc.
Resource mobilization strategies: Leads the design and implementation of resource mobilisation strategies intended to strengthen funding and partnerships to deliver the ambitions of the country strategy. Monitors the funding pipeline and leads on income planning and forecasting at country level.
New business development: Identify and pursue diverse funding sources, including institutional donors, corporate partnerships, and innovative financing mechanismsand tracks funding and partnership opportunities in a systematic manner in pursuit of supporting the country programme, including scoping new consortium partnerships with local stakeholders.
Networking and Representation: Represent GE at relevant forums, conferences, and events to build the organization’s visibility and network with potential partners. Responsible for managing and building GOAL Ethiopia’s relationships with existing donor representatives in the country. Proactively engages on a strategic basis with institutional donors at country level to facilitate technical programme exchanges, influence policy and thinking, and identify key areas of potential cooperation, including program funding. Work with the Country Leadership Team, Programme and Finance teams to ensure an active donor engagement plan is in place and updated monthly.
Bid/Proposal Development: Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals, ensuring alignment with donor priorities and compliance with guidelines. Prepares all necessary groundwork for proposal development , helps assemble bid development teams, provides effective bid coordination and proposal development in country and undertakes quality assurance of donor proposals to ensure high quality competitive proposals to successfully secure institutional donor funds.
Donor Compliance: Provides technical advice in negotiations with institutional donors over contracts, costs, governance and accountability, and donor conditions. Advises program and finance staff to deliver strong donor compliance and undertakes quality assurance for reports for donors in country considered to be high risk, to help minimise any negative impact to GOAL’s income and reputation.
Capacity building: Undertakes capacity assessments and provides technical training, support and advice for staff on how to work with donor funding in country.
Coordination: Links with the HQ FBD unit to access intelligence, opportunities and skills, brokering assistance from programme technical team. Supports in-country staff to adhere to funding policies and guidelines of GOAL. Collaborates with other GOAL countries to co-create or develop global or multi-country funding opportunities.

Engagement both internally and externally on proposal development, funding opportunities, and donor strategies.
Provide specialist advice, knowledge and skills related to partnership-building with institutional donors and GOAL Ethiopia to a range of GE senior managers and staff members.
Management tasks are complex, not routine, and involve high degree of specialisation.
Responsible for growing income from donors working in country.
Decision-making requires significant levels of judgement based on technical knowledge, experience, and consultation.
Collaborates with and influences colleagues in different parts of organisation including programs, finance, human resources, logistics, and funding.
Provides leadership in the design, coordination, and delivery of agreed strategies and plans for resource mobilisation.
Contributes to country income and budget planning processes according to agreed GOAL processes.
Manages bids and proposals with potentially significant financial and reputational impact for GE and its partners.
Engages with external stakeholders in the development of consortia bids.
Works across the HQ FBD team to ensure coherence, consistency and quality in fundraising efforts and results.
Requirements
Essentials
Minimum requirement is a university degree or equivalent in relevant subject area (Business Administration, Economics, International Development, Social Sciences, Law or other relevant experience)
Proven experience (min 5 yr) in business development, fundraising, or resource mobilization within the international non-governmental sector.
Excellent communication skills in both written and oral English
Strong understanding of donor landscapes, fundraising trends, and the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships.
Demonstrable experience and success in engaging with bilateral and multilateral donors for an international agency like GOAL.
Proven experience in grants management.
Demonstrated ability to devise and implement resource mobilisation strategies.
Proven ability to identify new business opportunities and partnerships.
Experience of collaborating with and leading technical teams to develop program proposals that are funded by institutional donors.
Strong networking, representational, and negotiation skills.
Experience in teaming arrangements and agreements with other organisations.
Ability to work effectively with others in a team across institutional boundaries and business units. Proven ability to utilise talent and expertise of team members to achieve objectives.
Ability to adapt and work within a multicultural, multilingual, and multidisciplinary environment.
Excellent computer skills, including various office applications and internet navigation.
Superior verbal and written communications skills in English with ability to analyse and synthesise complex issues.
Development and/or humanitarian programming experience, and a good understanding of international development and humanitarian issues.
Demonstrable experience in securing high value institutional funding grants
