Duties & Responsibilities
Leads the fundraising development related to Climate Resilience and supports country teams in strategic relationship building for future funding opportunities;
Develop project ideas, concept notes and capability statements to be presented to donors and partners in line with Country program strategies, Climate resilience global expertise and in cooperation with Head of Programmes and regional structure e.g Regional Programme Advisor
Continuously follows up on donor priorities, develop outreach strategy and identifies possible new funding streams relevant for both countries
Contribute to the coordination or development of proposals/ concept notes and budget, according to the given and agreed Proposal development plan and tasks);
Coordinates/leads development of feasibility studies, and other assessments related to new concepts and projects
Ensure project proposals are developed based of best practices and internal knowledge and compliance with the mission, regional and overall RDD strategies and priorities;
Review project proposals to ensure they meet PIN’s internal standards and donor requirements – in particular with regards to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, Do No
Harm and Conflict Sensitivity, Accountability to Affected Populations, the Environment, and other cross cutting themes
Develops and maintains good and active network with relevant actors, potential partners, local CSOs, private sector and experts in both countries in relation to climate resilience programming
Maps relevant actions and programmes in both countries and in the sub-region and identify PIN potential involvement and/or partnership development
Maps strategic regional and national networks and platforms where PIN participation is relevant and feasible,
Undertake external representation, advocacy and influencing at key regional and national platforms and networks (as identified/relevant and as agreed on with Country management team and CR Strategy Lead)
Ensures regular coordination and communication with key donors in close coordination with Country management team
Represents PIN in relevant committees, community of practices, task forces and consultative initiatives.
Collaborate with Climate Resilience team and Countries management in analyzing current projects, identify their strengths and weaknesses and strategical scale ups and duplications
Work with the Country programme teams to understand the national government’s priorities on the CR area and find the space for PIN’s interventions.
Compile and use existing evidence related to climate resilience programming and its integration in project design, contribute to developing new ones if/when necessary
Keep updated on trends, innovations and new programming options related to Climate resilience in the region
Identify and develop project ideas relevant for the carbon market to attract potential partners and/or investors
Contribute to build capacities of the Country Program team and local partners on
Climate resilient programming
Cooperates with PIN Media department on development of communication tools, materials and content for public dissemination and positioning;
Perform other tasks as requested by line managers.
Requirements
A university degree (with the highest degree) in a relevant field (e.g: environmental studies, climate change or similar)
At least 5-8 years of professional experience in a relevant field in Climate resilience programming
International working experience of minimum 2 years in relevant field
Strong professional networking and positioning skills with proven experience in synthesizing and organizing diverse stakeholders’ interest up to the highest governmental and multilateral levels
Donor knowledge and resource mobilization experience in climate resilience-related projects
Proven track record of successful project/programme proposal writing in the field of climate resilience
Knowledge of climate change related agenda and problematics
Experience in DRR, EWS and AA would be an asset
Understanding of Southern Africa panorama on climate resilience issues such as needs, challenges, priorities and trends
Proven experience in engaging with the private sector and governments
Excellent spoken and written English
