Doria Feminist Fund: Fourth Grantmaking Cycle
The Doria Feminist Fund seeks to create a feminist ecosystem where the new generation of feminist movement in the MENA region has access to more and better funding and resources.
Core Funds for Emerging Groups
Our Core Funding program supports essentially but not exclusively emerging/new feminist groups through a one-time, fully-flexible core grant of up to $15,000 to jumpstart their work and support them in their establishment phase/early years.
We encourage feminist groups working to advance the rights and wellbeing of women & LGBTQ+ groups to come forth with new concepts and ideas for feminist projects and to encourage, challenge and transform the current discourse on the feminist movement.
Our understanding of what a feminist groups is, is quite flexible and responsive to the political, social and economic context of the countries that our grantees work in. It is not rigid or restrictively formulaic and we do not define feminism within a pre-set list of characteristics, especially for applicants from countries of conflict. In the spirit of radical trust and solidarity, this is a fully-flexible grant that grantee-partners will be able to direct however they see fit for their own collective, group or organization.
We firmly believe that feminist groups are best positioned to determine their own priorities, to decide how to spend their money and also to decide whether/how to reallocate funds if the need arises.
Eligibility Criteria:
Project Funds
Our Project Funds program supports established feminist groups or collectives that seek to develop a new program or start a new activity within their group, through a small grant.
Established feminist groups and collectives in the MENA region are constantly engaging with changing political contexts and community needs, this funding program supports them financially and technically as they respond to these changes and mindfully expand their work. We encourage groups to broaden the scope of their work and to adopt new practices and mechanisms that further their current work as well.
Eligibility Criteria:
Knowledge Production Funds
The Knowledge Production fund supports projects on feminism and gender issues by on-ground feminist activists and engaged scholars in the MENA region, through a grant of up to $10,000 that covers knowledge creation and dissemination costs.
Feminist groups and engaged scholars can choose to write or translate
papers/books to Arabic, convene feminist-themed meetings, publish educational material (books, magazines, comics, etc.), create podcasts, produce photo essays or utilize any other creative media to present their work. The possibilities are endless.
This grant provides the opportunity and support needed for feminists to experiment with diverse media and to welcome new tools into their work as they create spaces for learning and knowledge exchange within their movements. It also invites feminist activists, groups and scholars to join the conversation on feminism and gender in the region, but finally on their own terms and in ways that privilege their knowledge, narratives and experiences.
In the spirit of knowledge sharing and exchange, works produced by grantee-partners as part of the knowledge production program will be openly shared with the public under the Creative Commons Attribution CC BY license and will remain the ownership of their creators.
Eligibility Criteria:
Accompaniment

It will also offer opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing among grantee-partners working on a diverse array of feminist issues in different countries, through convenings, training, conferences, webinars and workshops exploring various aspects of their work. In cases where the grantees’ needs for mentorship require travel, training or other expenses, a monetary sum will be added on top of the group’s original grant to cover costs.
