Asaak Financial Services Legal Officer Jobs in Uganda
Job Summary:
The Legal Officer will provide legal services to support business operations in accordance with the company’s policies, procedures and the law.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Employee’s duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:
Draft and review contracts entered into by the Company in its operations including but not limited to procurement of goods, services and engagement with partners.
Provide legal advice/opinions and draft responses to notices of intention to sue the company from customers, employees and any other stakeholders.
Review investigation reports, enquiries and internal audit findings and make recommendations for appropriate legal action to redress/safeguard the company.
Support Management in monitoring and reporting compliance with Company policies and procedures and laws of Uganda.
Conduct legal research and provide legal advice and guidance for proactive compliance of the Company with new legislation and best practices impacting the operating environment.
Provide legal services to support business operations in accordance with company policies procedures and the law.
Represent the company in courts of law and any other fora in liaison with the external lawyers.
Liaising with external lawyers on company matters
Draft and review agreements, legal documents and Memorandums of Understanding.
Participate in recovery of written off and bad loans.
Provide legal support to the company’s debt Recovery Strategy and follow-up police cases in liaison with collection and recovery officers
Draft contract and service level agreements for company engagements
Prepare and submit monthly reports to the supervisor
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and specifications:
Must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre.
Should be an enrolled Advocate of the High court of Uganda.
Must have a valid practicing certificate.
A minimum of two years of working experience from a reputable financial institution and or law firm will be an added advantage
Must possess excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to function under pressure.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must have high levels of personal and professional integrity
