Requirements for Appointment: – –
Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution.
Possess a current valid practicing certificate; and
Membership of a relevant professional body;
Certificate in meat inspection from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities: –
Carry out treatment of animals as per the skills acquired;
Participate in disease search and reporting;
Demonstrate milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;
Carry out vaccination of livestock;
Undertake closed castration, dehorning, deworming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming.
Undertake meat inspection; and
Carry out slaughterhouse hygiene and meat transportation regulations.
