Key Responsibilities:

Grant Financial Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensure aligned budgets are posted in SUN
  • Monitor budget commitments and follow up on the pending commitments
  • Review and advice on project coding
  • Review project expenses for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare analysis of grant expenditure for management action to help in monitoring the burn rate for grants and special projects.
  • Prepare donor reports for grants projects as allocated
  • Provide timely feedback on any inquiries on the allocated projects financial performance.

    Grant acquisition:

  • Development of proposal budget for continued Government, Multilateral and PNS funding to National office.
  • Preparation and submission of realistic, accurate and timely budgets that are compliant with the donor rules and regulations.
  • Timely revision of budgets in line with project needs and donor regulations.
  • Review of budgets developed by field accountants.
  • Review of budgets developed by partners.

    Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure grant implementation and reporting follows donor rules and regulations.
  • Ensure grant projects close out procedures are done according to the donor guidelines.
  • Work closely with the procurement department to ensure compliance with grants procurement guidelines
  • Reconcile LDRs with the payroll.
  • Coordinate grant project audits & reviews and follow up on recommendations to ensure 100% implementation.
  • Facilitate storage of financial reports and records pertaining to the Program in line with the donor and WV requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks facing the grant through riskconnect
  • Under-take frequent field visits to identify and review risks facing the grant projects allocatedSub-grantee Management
  • Support RAM department in conducting due diligence for new sub-grantees.
  • Support Program Officers in the sub-granting process, ensuring grant agreement are well executed.
  • Monitor sub-grantee financial performance and adherence to donor regulations
  • Enhance financial capacity of Sub grantees through continuous training based on need and the due diligence outcomes
  • Review of sub-grantee’s financial report
  • Maintain records and files on each sub-grantee

  • Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor

    Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of financial management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities with attention to detail, meeting tight deadlines under pressure
  • Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Accounting or Finance or related field.
  • CPA (K)
  • Practical experience of using SUN system accounting Software is preferred
  • Advanced excel and analytical skills Strong budgetary and financial management skills
  • Experience in supervision skills, including training, mentoring and supporting staff
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
  • Ability to work on a cross-cultural environment with a multi-national staff.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Compatibility with WV’s Mission, ethos, policies and core values.
