Job Purpose:
Macro Econometric Forecasting Global; Africa; EAC; foot print subsidiaries (GDP; inflation, interest rates; forex rate; FX Reserves; Current account deficit; budget deficit; Oil prices; Credit % of GDP; Debt% of GDP etc.
Monthly Economic Analysis for Group and footprint subsidiaries ALCO (Asset and Liability Management Committee).
Quarterly External publication of the Macro Economic Research (External thought leadership publication giving the Macro Economics ‘’House View’’ on key variables for consumption by SME and Corporate Customers and other stakeholders of Equity Group).
Adhoc C-Suite executive research; decision support and feasibility studies.
Balanced Score Card Business Growth for foot print subsidiaries (financial (growth of deposits; loans; interest incomes; non- funded incomes) ; customer ( growth in new customers and partners like agents; merchants ); internal processes (innovations; strategic partnerships ) and learning and growth (trainings of staff ; customers and partners like agents; merchants )
Duties:
To participate actively in the construction of new macro econometric models, forecasting tools and analytical frameworks
To maintain, document and develop further existing models, forecasting tools and analytical frameworks.
To prepare or contribute to forecasts and simulations in response to requests from the Bank’s senior management.
To help generate relevant research proposals, participate in the planning of annual rounds of research and subsequently take responsibility for allocated strands of research.
To deliver presentations on economic research and model developments to the Bank’s senior management
To prepare working papers, reports and articles on allocated research topics or on model developments as required.
Any other assigned duties and responsibilities
Qualifications
Familiarity with relevant statistical methodologies and experience in building and maintaining macro econometric models, forecasting tools and other analytical frameworks.
Excellent analytical, motivation and communication skills are necessary as is the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Must be able to work in a team and coordinate and supervise the work of others.
At least 4 years of experience
