The Role

St Andrew’s School Turi is seeking to appoint a Junior Boarding Houseparent for our young boarders. This is a key pastoral position within the School and requires someone with a passion for providing high quality care to young boarders from many different countries and cultures.

Boarding Houseparents lead their own Core Teams and are supported by wider team of tutors; every colleague contributes to the boarding life of the school. The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Head Pastoral.

We are looking for an ambitious teacher with proven classroom experience along with a passion to create a comfortable home at school for our young boy boarders. The School

St Andrew’s, Turi is one of the leading international schools in Africa. Founded as a Preparatory School in 1931, it has grown to comprise of both Preparatory and Senior Schools. St Andrew’s is a full boarding school, situated on a beautiful 450-acre site on the western slopes of the Rift Valley North West of Nairobi, and at

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications

A degree of at least 2:1 or equivalent

A teaching experience

A demonstrable commitment to professional self-development

Knowledge

A proven track record of excellent teaching and classroom management skills with minimum of three years experience

Experience of leading and managing a boarding house team

Experience of teaching English and Mathematics

Knowledge of current developments in global boarding prep schools

Experience

Leadership experience, including energy resilience and a track record of enthusing and motivating others.

Ability to use a range of teaching strategies to support the full range of educational needs

Experience of coaching competitive sport to U13 level or above

Relevant experience in a Prep School context
