It is a time before radio communications and satellites. You’ve lived on a farm your entire life. If you had realized us, homo sapiens, were, in fact, the aliens on this planet, and that there were another race somewhere out there living on an unknown continent, how would you react?

The scenario is this: you are a horseman. You’ve lived on a farm your entire life. You have never gone beyond the confines of your township, and everyone in your village is in on the lie. You’ve read in books and other forms of literature that humankind is the dominant species on this planet. But this isn’t Earth. You’re on another planet, living as you would on Earth. One day, you explore into the woods to find your lost dog. Your horse panics and throws you. You find your dog dead in a ravine, being picked over by a roving gang of aliens.

You have no knowledge of sapient life beyond homo sapiens, but these aliens seem… almost as human as you, but they aren’t. They’re completely different. They look different. They sound different. They’re several meters taller than you, and they’re wielding weapons you’ve never seen before.

To them, you are the alien. This is their home.

How do you react in this situation?
