If morality is subjective should we govern ourselves by what the majority in the country feel is moral ?

Sure, but whether or not morality is subjective is also subjective. A lot of the country, though not a majority, believe that morality is definitely NOT subjective and that’s exactly why they’re trying to force their morality on everyone. If you believe your morality is objectively correct, then you have no tolerance for anyone else’s morality.
