I hate “reverse gender” argument that comes up in almost every internet discussion

It doesn’t make sense because most of the time, people would react the same way in the case of a reverse situation.

“A man was beaten up by his wife” Reddit: if a wife would be beaten up, people would be outraged. Ok but people are outraged when a man is beaten up too? The amount of unbothered people is not marginally significant, and these people would definitely not care if a woman would be assaulted.

“A wife was beaten up by a husband” Reddit: You know, a man is usually not believed and a woman gets away with it (in societies when it happens, women are beaten up way more). So we will drag this woman down, because women do not get public shame ever (yes they do constantly).

In summary, reverse gender whataboutism makes no sense, because usually people are outraged regardless. Or the reverse happens already and people do not care as much as Redditors assume.
