How does one study effectively?

I went to a university that had a very good program for studying. It was called “Thesis”. You’d get a schedule at the beginning of the semester and you had to submit a thesis by the end of the semester.

It was brutal. You’d have to read chapters from your assigned texts, do your own research, write a bibliography, and write a thesis proposal. It was intense and it felt like you were really learning.

I am now a Ph.D student in my field and I am not allowed to miss Thesis.
