How do you start to become a better person?

This is complicated to pinpoint, but let me just mention that recently I started using goal-setting worksheets to plan S.M.A.R.T. goals for the bigger picture things that need aiming toward and accomplishment in life. It is helping me take action, change my routines and establish good habits by seeing the steps that I need to take to accomplish them (breaking it down into steps helped me a lot).
