How come stars don’t move?

They do, but they’re super far away and the amount they move as it appears from Earth is not noticeable in a night. My understanding is that the constellations (usually made of the closest brightest stars) are slightly different shapes than when they all got their names a couple thousand years ago, but I don’t have the math to back that up.
