How can a writer make their protagonist call out the antagonist without making the protagonist seem narcissistic?

Sounds like a “show, don’t tell” issue in story-telling.

Having the protagonist bluntly “call out” the antagonist is just as likely to cast the writer in a bad light as it is the protagonist.
