Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Forest Policy and Governance Specialist in Rome, Italy. The duration of this post is 11 months.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Forest Policy and Governance Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Prepare technical documents on forest policy and governance to support the development of sustainable forest value chains;
- Conduct needs assessments;
- Organize global, regional, and national policy dialogues and consultations on the development of sustainable forest value chains, involving public and private sectors, civil society, and forest communities;
- Develop knowledge products to build capacities for improved governance for forest value chains;
- Plan and coordinate delivery of events on sustainable forest value chains in the context of FAO Regional Forestry Commissions and the FAO Committee on Forestry, as well as other major international events, for instance, IUFRO Congress, UNFCCC COPs, etc;
- Provide technical support to field projects as requested;
- Provide support to resources mobilization and outreach efforts of the team and the division;
- Any other relevant tasks as requested.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must have:
- University degree in Forestry, Agricultural or Environmental Policy, Governance, Agricultural, Environmental or Forest Economics, Political Science and other related areas
- 3 years of relevant experience in forest policy, governance or economics
- Working knowledge (level C) of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other two or Arabic, Chinese, Russian. For PSA, working knowledge of English, French or Spanish.
