BURN Project Manager Jobs in Kenya
About the role
BURN is seeking an experienced, exceptionally organised person to take on the role of a Project Manager. The Employee will play a pivotal role in project management, overseeing various aspects of project planning, execution, and closure, focusing on cross-functional teams and projects across the organization under the newly formed Project Management Office (PMO).
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Monitoring:
Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, timelines, resources, and milestones. Integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule, establishing baselines, and performing measurement baselines.
Create and maintain detailed summary-level schedule reports, including Gantt charts, milestone charts, and other tools for critical path analysis, near-term task work, and priority-based resource locations.
Plan the scope of work and required resources, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
Budget Oversight:
Develop project budgets and manage them throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring financial goals are met.
Collaborate with the head of the function in getting the budget approvals from the Senior Management Team (SMT).
Track and monitor the cost resources during project execution to maintain the project budgets.
Communication and Reporting:
Facilitate effective communication within the project team and with stakeholders across various departments.
Share monthly project progress reports, conduct weekly status update meetings, and engage in daily catchups and follow-ups with project execution teams.
Ensure clear and timely communication of project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management:
Identify and engage with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
Follow up on work progress and deliverables development.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with other managers to effectively manage project staff and optimize resource allocation.
Monitor, track, and control project outcomes, resolving issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables.
Manage project and program issues and risks, mitigating their impact on the baseline.
Track, record, and act on project issues, organizing logistics, and delegating work to project teams.
Procurement Management:
Track Purchase Requests (PRFs) related to the projects in collaboration with procurement.
Initiate various PRFs in collaboration with project execution teams.
Project Management Support:
Create project plans, schedules, and task workflows on Smartsheet, ensuring effective project management.
Provide support to other functions in utilizing Smartsheet, including training sessions.
Offer project portfolio updates to inter-departmental project tracking tools.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, Business management, Operations, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management support, with a proven track record of successful cross-functional project delivery.
PMP, CAPM, and PRINCE2 certifications are highly desirable, showcasing a commitment to excellence.
Prior experience with common office and project management tools (MS Project/Smartsheet), highlighting proficiency in industry-standard practices.
A Demonstrated understanding of the project life cycle.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills, showcasing an ability to navigate complexities.
Proactively identifies and addresses risks, displaying a risk-aware mindset.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively, building strong professional relationships across functional areas.
Proficient in Excel and other project management tools, illustrating a high level of technical competence.
Action-oriented and able to drive results, demonstrating a proactive approach to achieving cross-functional project objectives.
Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work, contributing to a positive and ethical work environment within the newly formed PMO.
