National Senior Certificates.
All relevant gradings and fumigation certificates.
3 to 5 years experience in the Grain industry with a focus on grain handling and storage.
Skills/Competencies:
Knowledge of SAP system.
Financial and inventory management.
Great leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
Great negotiation skills.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the handling of grain:
Ensure operational efficiency of silo and manage contingency plan.
Ensure the calibration of grading equipment and measuring equipment.
Oversee the sample taking process and ensure the grading of grain according to statutory requirements and intervene in the event of disputes.
Ensure accurate determination of consignment’s mass.
Ensure accuracy of data on system and ensure the correct offloading of grain.
Manage grain flow process.
Ensure a safe working environment.
Plan the dispatch process to ensure the quality and availability of grain.
Coordinate and schedule the dispatching of grain.
Ensure the hygiene of loading transportation.
Responsible for the storage of grain:
Planning and allocating of storage capacity according to crop estimation information.
Pre-cleaning / cleaning of grain.
Drying, aeration and fumigation of grain.
Ensure consistent quality of grain.
Ensure silo hygiene according to HACCP and worksite procedures.
Manage stock measurements.
Responsible for the optimisation of grain:
Identify opportunities for value adding within grading criteria.
Optimising and oversee grain process to achieve value adding objectives and minimise risk.
Grow market share in grain industry:
Conduct regular Market Analysis to determine tendencies and movements in markets and align Grain Industry Actions/ plans to optimise business results.
Determine and implement marketing actions in support of existing grain facilities based on crop estimates and predicted market movements.
Identify opportunities to optimise business in external areas and prepare recommendations for Manager: Operations.
Determine facility needs for new business opportunities and coordinate with advisors to design facilities and to plan the CAPEX needs.
Identify opportunities, prepare business plans and manage collateral business contracts.
Identify opportunities for alternative storage facilities and coordinate the grain movement.
Explore opportunities to optimise grain imports, provide the input required for capital plans; coordinate the movement of grain with all role-players (internal/ external) and resolve complexities.
Establish and manage relations with relevant stakeholders, role-players and institutions in support of market growth.
Monitor, analyse and interpret market growth for the region.
Liaise with Clients:
Maintain sound business relations with clients.
Attend and resolve client queries.
Advise and inform clients on transactions available and industry tendencies.
Provide input and handle queries at organized agricultural meetings/forums.
Communicate marketing opportunities.
Manage silo according to department business plan:
Interpret Grainlink silo operations business plan and strategy.
Compile workplace business plan in alignment with Grainlink silo operations strategy.
Evaluate performance against plan at least quarterly.
Initiate an implement performance enhancement.
Set EE targets and Initiate Actions to Meet.
• Manage and develop staff.
• Manage silo finance by compile, monitor and manage the budget.
