Bayer East Africa Medical Advisor – Radiology Jobs in South Africa
Role Purpose
This is a dual/hybrid role MSL/Medical Advisor; but most of the time (60% plus will need to be spent in field with customer-facing interactions)
The Medical Advisor acts as the scientific expert in the Therapeutic Area/s proactively providing training, scientific advice and strategic input to internal and external stakeholders as well as the scientific and medical community in country as well as across the cluster.
The position holder shall drive the localisation of the global medical and brand strategy in alignment with cross-functional, cluster, local and regional strategic partners.
The incumbent is accountable for scientifically validating materials and developing and contributing to multichannel campaigns and relevant scientific materials for the cluster.
The Medical Advisor contributes to the generation of clinical evidence to address information gaps for the products across the life cycle.
The Medical Advisor establishes long-term scientific/strategic relationships with key, influential physicians/scientists/stakeholders and with related major medical associations and academic centers of excellence.
These relationships will ensure that Thought Leaders (TLs) and organizations have access to relevant scientific information and that pertinent information is shared with the medical community.
The Medical Advisor uses his/her experience and knowledge interacting with key external medical and pharmacy professionals through the process of education via one-on-one interaction; small group discussion and symposia lecture presentations including interactions associated with sponsored medical education programs and research protocols.
The Medical Advisor facilitates TL involvement in national, regional and local educational forums including advisory boards, symposia and Continuing Medical Education (CMEs).
The Medical Advisor also serves as an important partner to internal stakeholders within Bayer by communicating relevant information from TLs to key cross-functional partners within the cluster.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Strategic contribution:
Responsible and accountable for driving the localisation of the global medical and brand strategy, by using local / cluster field insights and partnering with both local / cluster cross-functional teams and regional teams.
Responsible and accountable for using cross-functional knowledge to create medical multichannel campaigns: including content development, multichannel strategy and the customer journey.
Responsible and accountable for driving a strategic partnership with local / cluster cross-functional teams.
Accountable for driving the medical strategy by translating the global, regional, and cluster / local medical plans into implementable TL engagement strategies with cross-functional teams
Data collection, analysis and interpretation:
Accountable for providing medical support to clinical trial teams on subjects related to interventional clinical trials including feasibility & initiation visits.
Accountable and responsible for managing study-related medical activities for Interventional Post-Approval Trials (IPAT), Observational Studies (OS) and Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) as required locally or within the cluster.
Responsible for reviewing and interpreting interaction analytics related to TL engagement and take appropriate actions.
Responsible and accountable for keeping abreast with latest scientific research on therapeutic area and competitors
Managing external relationships:
Responsible for fostering strong partnerships across allocated territories and play the role of ‘trusted advisor’ and ‘conductor’ to shape and synergize to reach win-win outcomes
Responsible and Accountable for identifying the right TLs to engage and maintain a current list with up-to-date segmentations as per global definitions.
