CBM is an International Christian development organization that works to improve the lives of persons with disabilities in the poorest part of the world, and to prevent avoidable disability.

CBM International has been supporting the Federal Government of Nigeria in the elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD), as well as supporting Community Based Inclusive Development projects, Community Mental Health projects, Inclusive Eye Health (IEH) projects, and Disability Inclusive Development in several states across the country and in recent times implementing Inclusive Emergency Response in the Northeast of Nigeria.

These are Your Main Responsibilities

  • Fulfils the role of Country Director to deliver CBM’s Disability and Inclusive Development work in the country.
  • Is responsible and accountable for leading the development and effective implementation of CBM’s Country Plan and its operational requirements within a country, ensuring high quality performance and alignment with CBM’s Federation strategy.
  • Takes responsibility for strong financial discipline within the Country Office and for ensuring with Partners that they are meeting and fulfilling CBM’s operational and financial reporting requirements.
  • Identifies programme opportunities and areas where the organisation can demonstrate its value and relevance.
  • Promotes the CBM vision and Country Plan to external stakeholders. This includes developing effective relations with other organisations,

    representing CBM to partners, local and national government, other development organizations and voluntary agencies, as well as in-country media, donor agencies and local communities to influence the country’s development agenda towards inclusion and poverty alleviation.
  • Establishes a high-quality workforce.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Regional Hub Director.

    These are Your Qualifications

  • Relevant academic degree (International Development, Business Administration, Social Sciences).
  • Professional experience of at least 5 years at senior management level in a large INGO or international development organisation with a strong track record in successfully developing, leading, and managing programmes and/or institutions in the field of disability, development, or other relevant fields.
  • Ability to work diplomatically and with sensitivity with individuals from a variety of cultures, professions, and personal backgrounds.
  • Advantage of lived experience with disability.
  • Experience of working with persons with disabilities or promoting disability rights is a distinct advantage.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and project cycle management.
  • Significant experience in organisational development, change management and capacity building.
  • Proficiency and proven experience in financial management, systems, and controls, including institutional grant management.
  • Proven skills in advocacy with track-record of building and managing effective partnerships and strategic alliances and influencing policy change.
  • Excellent people and team management skills, including motivating, empowering, coaching, delegating, team development, establishing focus, managing conflict and intercultural skills.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in managing media crises.
  • Preparedness to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Commitment to CBM’s mission, vision, and values.
  • English (professional proficiency).
  • Local/regional language (professional proficiency advantageous).
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Basic knowledge in ERP systems (e.g.MS Navision or equivalent) is an advantage.
