World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Communications Officer in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration of this post is 2 years.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Communications Officer will perform the following functions:
- Strategic communications:
- Develop WHO’s corporate communications strategy in consultation with the Head of Strategy, planning & coordination unit, DCO Director and WHO’s global communications staff working at three levels;
- Coordinate and facilitate implementation of the communications strategy by organizing editorial meetings, tools and measurement and analysis in partnership with relevant colleagues, identifying gaps, insights and solutions;
- Support communications coordination and planning of high-level events such as the World Health Assembly, Executive Board and other meetingsSupport planning, coordination and evaluation of WHO communication strategy.
- Brand management:
- Develop and manage rollout and implementation of WHO global brand guidance, including guidance on WHO logo use, which is a very busy and active area with requests coming from across the three levels.
- Provide regular advice and support to WHO staff at the headquarters, regional and country offices on issues related to WHO branding and logo policies by managing the helpdesk at [email protected]
- Coordinate the WHO Visual Identity Working Group to review and approve visual identity and logo requests from three levels of the organization.
- Manage brand management tools and policies such as the WHO branding and logo intranet resources, WHO logo and branding-related updates of the WHO e-manual and Digital Asset Management platform to ensure open, transparent and accessible guidance and information on branding for all WHO staff.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
- Advanced level university degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
- 7 years of experience in communications. Experience as a communications strategist. Experience in producing and/or administering brand management
- Relevant experience in WHO or another UN agency is an asset.
- Experience in working with senior management, and internal and external partners.
- Expert knowledge of English.
- Intermediate knowledge of another UN language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese or Russian).
