International Organization for Migration Senior Radiologic Technology Assistant (Teleradiology) Jobs in Kenya

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Health Assessment Programme Coordinator (RHAPC) and under the direct supervision of the Regional Radiology Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for assisting the Radiographic QC/QA measures and technical support to the IOM radiography units in the field different missions in Africa.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

In particular he/she will:

  • Provide technical guidance and information to the Radiologic Technologists and the radiology support staff in the different country operations radiography units in radiographic related matters and respond to related queries from radiographers, MHD staff in the fields.
  • Review the quality of chest radiographs from different field operations to verify if it meets the required IOM radiographic standards and the resettlement country technical instructions, provide feedback to respective field operations and report any non-compliances to the supervisor.
  • Assist in the implementation radiographic quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) measures for the radiography units in the different field operations in Africa.
  • Provide technical inputs for the development of IOM radiographic guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOP), training materials, and radiographic equipment specifications for the Radiography Units in the field operations in the region.
  • Assist in preparation of radiographic and Teleradiology users’ technical trainings to radiographers, and other radiology support staff in field operations.
  • Coordinate with the Radiologic Technologists in Country Offices to facilitate the implementation of IOM standards on image quality, radiation protection, X-ray equipment purchase and maintenance, and overall radiographic standards in IOM radiographic activities in the Country Offices.
  • Assist in audit assessment visits to Radiography Units in the different field operations worldwide and feedback for further improvements as needed.
  • Assist in providing the technical guidance during the procurement of radiographic equipment Prepare radiographic activity reports, briefings, and presentations, and assist in the preparation of other radiological presentations and quarterly/yearly activity reports, and other publications and reports produced by the regional Teleradiology and QC Center.
  • Assist in the IOM Teleradiology primary reading technical preparations, standard chest x-ray biodata requirements, and the implementation of the Teleradiology service to new field locations.
  • Provide support to the field operations by participating in the planning and implementing mobile missions as needed. Provide comprehensive report at the end of the mobile mission, suggest adjustment and improvements of mobile mission’s process when required.
  • Perform other related tasks as may be assigned.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    Education

  • University Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with five (5) years of relevant professional experience. Or,
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Administration, Management, or related fields is an advantage.

    Experience

  • Experience and knowledge on the radiographic techniques, radiation protection and radiographic standards, with demonstrated ability to take good quality chest radiography, especially chest radiography,
  • Experience in Management and coordination, especially of radiography units, with ability to supervise staff
  • Knowledge and skill in using digital radiography systems, PACS, and teleradiology system.
  • Experience in conducing training, preparing guidelines, and training material
  • Experience in Quality control and assessment of radiographic units

    Skills

  • Experience and knowledge in digital radiography and Teleradiology systems,
  • Good writing, communication and negotiation skills, with ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Competence with computers, with proficient in a Microsoft Office environment, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, using databases and software, and comfort in learning new software.
  • Previous work experience in an international organizations and companies, and knowledge in Migration health work, screening health assessments services an advantage.
  • Experience and skill in data analysis and writing reports is an advantage

    Languages

  • Required: Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of French; and/or any other UN Official language is advantageous.
