Uganda Performing Right Society Accountant Jobs in Uganda

Purpose:

Manage and monitor the organization’s budget and overall finances. Oversee the maintenance of day-to-day financial, accounting and administrative services to meet the requirements of and support UPRS activities and operations.

Main Duties:

  • Receive cash payments from clients.
  • Compile and manage the monthly cash flow.
  • Develop the monthly payroll and allowances for submission to the CEO for approval.
  • Capture, substantiate and ensure timely and accurate documentation of all day to day financial transactions.
  • Prepare income statements, balance sheets and quarterly financial statements.
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Collect and analyze data relating to various cost centres of the company.
  • Participate in business planning for the company, prepare all operational budgets and projections in liaison with the CEO.
  • Monitor and Implement approved accounting procedures/internal controls.
  • Prepare invoices, initiate payments approved by the CEO and issue receipts.
  • Prepare necessary documentation in preparation and coordination of audit processes, and support the supervision of external and internal audits.
  • Spearhead enforcement of financial policies, procedures and best practice.
  • Custodian of office petty cash. This includes disbursement and accountability of petty cash.
  • Custodian of all vendor contracts, service level agreements and any other financial records.
  • Prepare tax computations and returns for filing to URA.
  • Receive and verify accountabilities, support documents and invoices submitted for approval.
  • Oversee the documentation and maintenance of complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions and accountabilities.
  • Effectively handle banking relationships including, where applicable, negotiating for favorable transaction terms.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO.
  • Distribute royalties to local and international beneficiaries.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Accounting from a recognized institution
  • A professional accounting qualification ACCA/CPA.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Good working knowledge of Accounting software.

    Key skills, knowledge and traits

  • Proficiency in MS Office packages Excel and Word.
  • A person with analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of applicable accounting principles.
  • A deadline oriented person.
  • Knowledge of tax laws and conducting audits is an added advantage.
  • Should be a person of integrity.
