Duties

Being part of the Local Guard Force under Regional Security Office , the Guard provides security for Embassy personnel and facilities by conducting access control and visitor screening.

By employing physical, technical, and procedural security systems, incumbent prevents unauthorized access, maintains order, and deters criminal and terrorist attacks against employees and all U.S. assets.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience:

No prior working experience is required.

Job Knowledge:

Knowledge of the emergency response procedures and notification process, familiarity with security equipment and processes, awareness of cultural norms and customs required.

Education Requirements:

Secondary School is required.

Evaluations:

Post may choose to add the phrase “This may be tested” after a language, skill, and/or ability. Review the VA template for specific information.

Language:

English language Level 1 (Rudimentary knowledge) is required.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to understand the security control panel and to operate emergency alarms and the public address system.

Ability to use security equipment such as radio communication equipment, fire extinguisher, and personal protective equipment (e.g. batons, pepper spray, handcuffs, etc.).

Ability to use Automated External Defibrillator.

Daily duties may involve extended periods of walking and/or standing in a wide variety of weather conditions.

Ability to work flexible shift schedules, to include nights, days, weekends, and/or holidays.
