The main objective of the work to be carried out by this role will be to better learn, capture and reflect on who volunteers with Habitat around the globe, tracking critical aspects like their motivation and desired ways of engagement; efficient and fair volunteer management and contributions; and their role in building a value-based society post-volunteer program engagement.

The position is expected to collaborate cross-functionally with various departments at headquarters as well as area offices and national organizations.

This position may be based in countries where HFHI currently operates, such as Costa Rica, Kenya, the Philippines, Slovakia, the UK and the US, and requires 20% travel.

Responsibilities:

Strengthening of volunteer data collection, analysis and management across Habitat’s global network

  • Document best practices and provide recommendations to Habitat’s area offices and national organizations regarding harmonized ways of capturing, processing and sharing data internally.
  • Develop templates and relevant guidance for satisfaction surveys, follow-up interviews and engagement dashboards.
  • Structure and facilitate training sessions for national organization volunteer program staff on data management best practices, recommendations and resources.

Designing of volunteer engagement and retention approaches and key resources for implementation

  • Develop systematic approaches and related resources to engage, support, recognize and retain volunteers pre, during and post Global Village program participation.
  • Devise a plan to broaden and deepen Global Village and other forms of volunteering experiences in consideration of both volunteer and community related aspects.
  • Reflect on the diversity of potential future supporters of Habitat, and tailor approaches to help remove physical, economic, social and cultural barriers to volunteering.
  • Ensure alignment with the organization’s broader intent related to constituent engagement.

    Outreach, evaluation and follow up

  • Serve as first point of contact for the volunteer’s post-volunteer program engagement, resolving questions and requests about additional opportunities.
  • Monitor volunteer satisfaction through evaluations and data analysis, including regular surveys, interviews and outreach calls, and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Define key elements of tracking volunteer journey and record volunteers’ skills, interests and interactions in CRM.
  • Liaise with other HFHI departments that support engagement of people (e.g., donors, advocates, youth) to create and maintain a list of volunteering opportunities as part of Habitat’s broader stakeholder engagement.

    Requirements:

  • Master’s degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in tracking volunteer journey and/or collecting and managing volunteer data, with at least 3 years of direct experience in an international development setting.
  • Familiarity with diverse, agile and deeper volunteer engagement and/or retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience in utilizing data collection and analysis to drive decision-making.
  • Demonstrated success engaging youth, diverse audiences and community-based volunteers as part of multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills, including networking and presentation skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lead, inspire and motivate volunteers into action.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software, survey tools (i.e., Alchemer) and basic office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of constituent management tools and databases.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Capacity to work cross-culturally and uphold HFHI’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Understanding of the non-profit sectors.

Active support of HFHI values and commitments:

  • Humility – We are part of something bigger than ourselves.
  • Courage – We do what’s right, even when it is difficult or unpopular.
  • Accountability – We take personal responsibility for Habitat’s mission.
  • Safeguarding – HFHI requires that all employees take seriously their ethical responsibilities to safeguarding our intended beneficiaries, their communities, and all those with whom we work. Managers at all levels have responsibilities to support and develop systems that create and maintain an environment that prevents harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse, safeguards the rights of beneficiaries and community members (especially children), and promotes the implementation of Habitat for Humanity’s code of conduct.

    Preferred:

  • Knowledge of sustainable development and related global issues.
  • Experience working as part of a federated network.
  • Working knowledge of another language, particularly Spanish.
