GWASCO Technical Officer – Facility Management Jobs in Kenya
Job Purpose
To assist the Technical Services Manager in ensuring the Company’s infrastructure repairs and
maintenance are done efficiently and in a cost-effective manner to meet the customers’ expectations while meeting the set health and safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensuring the company’s infrastructures function smoothly throughout their operational life.
Developing, planning, and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance activities.
Ensuring compliance with relevant WASREB regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
Management of the sewer distribution network.
Preparing periodic reports and compliance documentation.
Inputting into the design stages of a project and identifying future maintenance issues
Liaising with the procurement department in procuring the required materials, tools, and
equipment.
Prepare and submit the Technical Manager proposals and concept notes for review.
Conduct Energy audits and advise the department on the suitability and sustainability of existing energy sources
Coming up with plans for improving and replacing the existing company infrastructure.
Creating a strategic management system to benefit an organization’s infrastructure and people.
Coordinating refurbishments and renovations.
Ensuring buildings, plants, and machinery meet health and safety and energy efficiency standards
Ensuring optimum utilization of resources and providing professional leadership to technical staff.
Implementation of the strategic plan and the business plan at the technical level and implementation of management resolutions
Implement safety standards to ensure the safety of staff and company facilities
Ensure periodic performance appraisal in the department.
Analyze and advise on the facility’s plant and equipment lifespan and usage.
Develop and supervise an emergency/ standby teams to deal with emergencies and breakdowns
Qualifications & Experience
A Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering,
or its equivalent
A higher Diploma in lieu of a bachelor’s degree with 7 years of experience.
A Registered Graduate Engineer with EBK and IEK in good standing
Five (5) years of relevant working experience with at least two (2) years in a Supervisory Position
Prior experience in routine and preventive maintenance of Pumps and other electromechanical systems.
At least three (3) years’ experience in a water treatment facility as a facility/water supply operator/ maintenance officer.
Experience in the STP works.
Training from the KEWI on Pump maintenance will be an added advantage
